Cycling Hospitality like never before
What happens when two beautiful persons decide to share their good mood and openness with the rest of the world? Definitely, something great!
It is Giannis and Asimina, married for 25 years (July '20), who with their character make sure that all visitors staying at their hotel to have a best possible stay. Both have decided to live a simple life, close to nature and away from busy city life.
About the owners
Giannis have studied tourism 35 years ago and he worked for years on the island of Rhodes, the most popular destination for incoming tourists at the time. It was in the early 90s, when he decided to operate a small unit of a rental rooms. The protocol required from him to register the businesses at the National Ministry of Tourism bureau. The process at that time, had a fun aspect: he had to choose among some pre-defined names found on a list. He chose: "Sunset", since the word"sunrise", apparently more appropriate due to the lodging's location, wasn't available. :-)
Asimina met Giannis during Sunset Hotel's first years of operations. She has studied olive oil production and marketing. Her passion about olive oil and farming coupled with a genuine sense of hospitality found home, here in Xiropigado with Giannis, leaving behind a successful career in a major olive oil company exporter.
Both decided to stay here and committed themselves to make the best they can in order to support the local community and ensure their visitors to have a great time. And who could argue that this is not true? After so many years of welcoming guests, they still have a vivid sparkle when they share with other the countless stories related to Xiropigado. For the ones who really want to know more, Asimina and Giannis are ready to show them how they collect their vegetables and how the olive oil is produced.
The food here is great
Talent and "meraki": these are the only two words that can describe the reasons why the food here tastes so good. From a simple plate of pasta and french fries to a shrimp risotto and grill fish served at the hotel's restaurant, all tastes exceptionally good. Behind the scenes, it is Giannis, who has been preparing meals with his father 40 year ago, even before Xiropigado was established as a village. He says that cooking keeps him calm and that he cannot find a greater reward than his guests enjoying the food he cooked. Thank you Giannis for everything!
